Why Did God Become Incarnate?

God would not have assumed flesh had there been no sin in the world, since the Bible repeatedly assigns Adam’s sin (pride) as the reason for the Incarnation. The Incarnation was necessary for the restoration of mankind,{1} and the Incarnation perfectly manifests God's infinite goodness, justice, wisdom, and power.{2} He came at a fitting time, neither the beginning nor the end of the world, to take away all sins.
