The Evil of Intoxication

It is a mortal sin (but not the greatest of all sins: unbelief) to become intoxicated knowing that the alcoholic beverage is immoderate and intoxicating and yet choosing to become drunk! This is because intoxication impairs judgment (reasoning) which is used to do good deeds and avoid sin, and this puts one in danger of falling into a state of sin and out of a state of grace with God!
