Q Gospel

MYTH
The authors of the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke depended on a lost Q document which compiled the sayings of Jesus

There is no Gospel of Q. There is no manuscript evidence for a Q document and none of the early church fathers mentioned anything like a Q gospel. The evidence indicates that the Gospels of Luke, Mark, and Matthew were written between A.D. 50 and 65. Early church fathers attributed the Gospels to their stated authors. If the Gospels were written by Matthew, Mark, and Luke, they were written by eyewitnesses of Jesus. Many similarities should be expected if the Gospels were written by eyewitnesses; the eyewitnesses would be expected to report Jesus saying the same things if the Gospels record Jesus' actual sayings. The similarities can be due to the authors' inspiration by the Holy Spirit. The Q document was invented by liberal "scholars" who deny the divine inspiration of the Bible.
